Connect Your Tracker to GTaro Ads

Pass GTaro click IDs to your tracker and send conversions back with one S2S postback. You will see conversions by source and sub ID in both places and can optimize placements on real results. All you need is a GTaro campaign and any tracker that supports S2S postbacks.

How it works

A visitor clicks your ad

GTaro opens your tracker link and fills in {postbackid} with a click token, plus the source and sub ID macros you added.

Your tracker stores the click ID

The tracker saves the GTaro click ID as the traffic source's external ID and sends the visitor on to your offer.

A conversion happens

The tracker calls the GTaro postback URL with the same click ID. The conversion appears in your GTaro statistics right away.

Tracking macros

Add these macros to the link you paste into the Redirect URL of your GTaro campaign. GTaro replaces each one with a real value on every click. The same macros work in every format: popunder, push, native, banner and direct link.

MacroWhat it passesExampleSuggested parameter
{postbackid}Click token for the S2S postback. It encodes the placement, country and day of the click, so clicks from the same placement on the same day share it. Required for conversion trackinga URL-safe string of about 60–100 characterscid
{source}ID of the traffic source (supply endpoint) the visit came from23source
{subid}Sub ID of the placement inside that source1494502subid
{campaign}ID of your GTaro campaign459campaign
{website}ID of the publisher's website169site
{publisher}ID of the publisher3pub

A placement is identified by the pair {source} + {subid}. Pass both to your tracker: when a placement does not convert, you can block it in your GTaro campaign as SOURCE-SUBID, for example 23-1494502.

Example of a Redirect URL in GTaro:

https://your-tracker.com/click?cid={postbackid}&source={source}&subid={subid}&campaign={campaign}

Postback URL

When a conversion happens, your tracker sends a GET request to this URL. Replace {EXTERNAL_ID_TOKEN} with your tracker's token for the traffic source click ID (see the table below).

https://gtaroads.net/postback?id={EXTERNAL_ID_TOKEN}
TrackerClick ID tokenReady postback URL
Voluum{externalid}https://gtaroads.net/postback?id={externalid}

Binom{externalid}https://gtaroads.net/postback?id={externalid}
Keitaro{external_id}https://gtaroads.net/postback?id={external_id}
BeMob{externalId}https://gtaroads.net/postback?id={externalId}

Voluum

Voluum users: +10% bonus on your first deposit (from $100, bonus up to $1,000). Mention code VOLUUMGT10 to your account manager.

  1. Go to Traffic sources → Create → Traffic source → Create custom traffic sources and name it GTaro Ads.
  2. In Advanced parameters, set the External ID row: Parameter cid, Token {postbackid}.
  3. Add custom variables with Add parameter: source = {source}, subid = {subid}, campaign = {campaign}.
  4. Turn on Traffic Source Postback URL and paste https://gtaroads.net/postback?id={externalid}. Save.
  5. Create a campaign with this traffic source and paste the campaign URL into the Redirect URL of your GTaro campaign. Voluum adds the parameters to the URL for you.

Voluum sends one traffic source postback per conversion. If you track several conversion types, choose which ones are sent with Traffic source postback URL per event type.

RedTrack

RedTrack users: +10% bonus on your first deposit (from $100, bonus up to $1,000). Mention code REDTRACKGT10 to your account manager.

  1. Go to Traffic channels → New from scratch and name it GTaro Ads.
  2. In Click id, enter {postbackid}.
  3. In Additional parameters, add sub1 = {source} (name: source), sub2 = {subid} (name: subid), sub3 = {campaign} (name: campaign).
  4. In S2S Postback URL, paste https://gtaroads.net/postback?id={ref_id}. Save.
  5. Create a campaign with this traffic channel and paste the tracking link into the Redirect URL of your GTaro campaign.

RedTrack has its own {postbackid} macro for its conversion ID. Use GTaro's {postbackid} only in the Click id field, and {ref_id} in the postback. Set Duplicate postback mode to ignore duplicates, so one conversion is sent once.

Binom

Binom users: +10% bonus on your first deposit (from $100, bonus up to $1,000). Mention code BINOMGT10 to your account manager.

  1. Go to Traffic sources → Create and name it GTaro Ads.
  2. In External ID, enter {postbackid}.
  3. Tick Use tokens and add: source / {source}, subid / {subid}, campaign / {campaign}.
  4. In Postback URL, paste https://gtaroads.net/postback?id={externalid}. Keep the postback share at 100%. Save.
  5. Create a campaign with this traffic source and paste the campaign link into the Redirect URL of your GTaro campaign.

If you only want the first conversion of each click to reach GTaro, set the S2S postback mode to send the first conversion only.

Keitaro

Keitaro users: +10% bonus on your first deposit (from $100, bonus up to $1,000). Mention code KEITAROGT10 to your account manager.

  1. Go to Sources → Create and name it GTaro Ads.
  2. In the parameters table, set external_id to {postbackid}, source to {source}, sub_id_1 to {subid} and ad_campaign_id to {campaign}.
  3. In S2S postback, paste https://gtaroads.net/postback?id={external_id}. Use Send only statuses if you want to pass only approved conversions. Save, then Apply to campaigns if the source is already in use.
  4. Create a campaign with this source and paste the campaign link into the Redirect URL of your GTaro campaign.

Sent postbacks are logged in Maintenance → Logs → S2S postbacks.

Any other tracker

  1. Create a custom traffic source named GTaro Ads.
  2. Put {postbackid} in the field for the traffic source click ID (often called External ID or Click ID).
  3. Map {source} and {subid} to two custom parameters.
  4. Set the traffic source postback to https://gtaroads.net/postback?id= followed by your tracker's click ID token.

BeMob uses {externalId}: tick the statuses you want to send in the source settings, only Approved is ticked by default. ClickFlare uses {external_id} and needs Traffic Source Postback URL turned on with the conversion event selected.

Test your setup

  1. Launch your GTaro campaign with a small daily budget.
  2. Open your tracker's report: clicks should arrive with a filled click ID, source and sub ID. If you see the literal text {postbackid}, the macro is in the wrong field or misspelled.
  3. When the first conversion comes in, check the tracker's postback log. GTaro answers {"success":"Conversion stored successfully"}.
  4. In your GTaro account, open Statistics: the Conversions column shows the conversion right away. Group by source and sub ID to compare placements.

Troubleshooting

Conversions are in my tracker but not in GTaro

Check the postback log in your tracker. No request sent: the traffic source postback is off or filtered by status. Invalid format: the click ID did not reach the tracker in full; make sure {postbackid} is the value of the external ID parameter and nothing shortens it.

I see more conversions in GTaro than in my tracker

Your tracker sends the postback more than once for the same click, for example on every status change. Send only the final status or only the first conversion, using the options described for your tracker above.

The click ID arrives as the text "{postbackid}"

The macro is written incorrectly or placed in the offer URL instead of the GTaro Redirect URL. Macros are filled in only in the Redirect URL of your GTaro campaign, with curly braces and in lowercase.

Can I send the payout in the postback?

No. GTaro stores conversions without amounts. Keep payouts and ROI in your tracker; in GTaro use conversion counts by source and sub ID.

How do I stop a placement that does not convert?

Find its source and sub ID in your tracker and add SOURCE-SUBID to the blacklist of your GTaro campaign, for example 23-1494502.
